At the time of writing, just 12 hours ago, in anticipation of Geoff Keighley's Summer Games Fest 2026, Sony unveiled a whole host of announcements, updates, and sneak peeks. Here are some of the most notable video announcements.
Sony's Insomniac's Marvel's Wolverine PS5 Exclusive is Coming Out Soon!
Originally announced nearly five years ago, the bloody and hyper-violent Canuck simulator is finally coming out September 15. Eschewing the open-world design of Sony's Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man, the gameplay looks like a cross between Uncharted and the Arkham Batman games, featuring familiar X-Men characters such as Jean Grey, Mystique, and Logan's nemesis, Sabretooth. Pre-orders are available now, "Snikt snikt Bub"!
From the World of Dave the Diver - Bancho the Chef Gets His Own Game
Not a DLC expansion, but a standalone game featuring Dave the Diver's chillest sushi chef, Bancho. In this prequel set 19 years before the original game, players will accompany Bancho on a globe-trotting adventure to become the world's greatest sushi chef. Gameplay includes RPG mechanics, fishing, cooking, and cat-petting mini-games. The developer's promise unique features utilizing the PlayStation 5's DualSense Controller. Release date TBC.
Japan's Most Enthusiastic Games Designer is Back with KEMURI: Hunt the Unseen
Bringing back the positive vibes she had in her E3 2019 presentation for Ghost Wire: Tokyo, Ikumi Nakamura and her studio Unseen, gave an update on their first game, Kemuri. The gameplay video features Yokai Hunters propelling themselves across a dystopian Kemuri City. Apparently, part of the gameplay will be forming contracts with the Yokai you defeat, ala Chainsaw Man. The optional co-op multiplayer gave me anxiety that it's going to be another live-service game like Rocksteady's ill-fated Suicide Squad game; hopefully, that won't be the case. Kemuri is currently set to release sometime in 2027.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis has a Release Date
The second re-telling and re-imagining of Core Design's original Tomb Raider, looking extra shiny in the Unreal 5 engine, with gameplay reminiscent of Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy. Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis is now set to release on February 12, 2027.
Dune: Awakening is Finally Coming to Consoles in September
After a year of spice-running and worm-riding for PC players, Funcom's survival MMO is landing on consoles September 22. Dune: Awakening's console release will also feature a single-player mode, allowing players to focus on the storyline without having to deal with pesky spice raiders. "The Sleeper has awoken!"
Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Unsheathing in September
Nearly two years after Capcom's initial announcement, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is slashing its way to PlayStation and XBOX consoles on September 25. Various Pre-order bundles and a playable demo are available now.
When It Rains, It Pours - Silent Hill: Townfall Releases in September
Continuing Konami's deluge of Silent Hill games comes a stealth survival horror from Annapurna Interactive and Screen Burn Interactive, the developers of Stories Untold and Observation. Set in the fictional Scottish town, St. Amelia, players walk in the shoes of Simon Ordell as he tries to escape the haunted seaside village. Silent Hill: Townfall sneaks out this September 24.
The RCU's Expansion Continues as Control Resonant Breaks Out this... You Guessed It! September!
After Alan Wake 2 and FBC: Firebreak, the Remedy Connected Universe is on an imminent collision course with reality as Control Resonant releases September 24. Controlling Dylan Faden, the brother of the original protagonist Jesse Faden, players will explore a warped, infected Manhattan and battle a new paranatural threat. Pre-orders for Control Resonant are available today. The PlayStation 5 Digital Deluxe Edition includes 48 hours of advance access.
Sexy Interactive Horror Returns - Until Dawn 2 Announced
I honestly didn't think much of this trailer until Peter Stomare, reprising his role as Dr. Hill, appeared at the end. This new installation in the Until Dawn franchise is being handled by Firesprite (Horizon: Call of the Mountain), taking the reins from original developer Supermassive Games. Until Dawn 2 is set to murder its protagonists sometime in 2027.
The Saga Continues with God of War Laufey – Announcement Trailer and Gameplay
Saving over 20 minutes of gameplay for the very end of its presentation, Sony revealed the continuation of Corey Barlog and Santa Monica Studio's epic Saga. In God of War Laufey you control the titular giantess and goddess, with Deborah Ann Woll once again providing her likeness and performance for the character. As Faye, players will explore the afterlife of the gods, the Everywhen, battling deities from other mythologies with Faye's magic and agility, a return to God of War's Greek era gameplay. God of War Laufey will be re-awakening in 2027.
